What to Bring:
Summers in the Yukon are generally quite temperate and it is a semi-arid environment, meaning we don’t really receive a lot of rain. Average temperatures range from day time highs of approximately 20°C/65°F to possible night time lows of 5°C/40°F.
Clothing: We love layers and recommend people bring a rain jacket, fleece jacket and comfortable clothes for lounging around the yurts after a day’s ride.
On Bike: For riding, we recommend people bring their usual cycling attire such as shoes, padded bike shorts, shorts, t-shirts, long sleeved shirts & pants, wind breaker, full fingered cycling gloves, sunglasses, and a backpack or hydration pack.
We do have a limited supply of full suspension Norco Fluids available for rent for our package clients. They are rented for an additional $40.00 CAD per day.
Policies
Thursday
Your guide will greet you at the airport and bring you out to the yurt base camp. Everyone meets at the yurts and assemble their bikes. Over a welcoming and delicious Boréale-style barbeque, we will go over our detailed itinerary for the rest of the weekender.
Friday
This is singletrack all day and shows you why Whitehorse is on the world map of mountain biking. We will ride the Grey Mountain trail network. This is a cross country day with a flair towards gravity assisted mountain biking. Stunning views accompany us throughout the day; we will rip through the smooth single track.
Saturday
Today will be an alpine riding day! We have two options and both have fantastic trails and scenery. Mount McIntyre is an alpine option that has something for beginners, intermediate and advanced riders. The Mountain Hero trail is a challenging trail, suited for those with very strong physical fitness and bike handling skills. There is a minimum of 4 people required to do the Mountain Hero trail.
Sunday
We will be up early to get in a great ride before that flight back to reality. The Yukon River is a highlight of any trip to Whitehorse. A deep bright green colour, it seems almost unreal. On today’s ride we will maneuver our way through the trails to the follow the Yukon River as it flows to back to town. After the ride, we return to the yurts to disassemble bikes and prepare for the flight home.
Our company has a special airfare deal with Air North, Yukon’s Airline, making the total trip price $435 CAD from Vancouver/Calgary/Edmonton-Whitehorse return with an extra $25 per direction for bicycle transport, payable at check-in counter. This airfare deal needs to be booked via Boréale Explorers.
Whitehorse International Airport is serviced daily from Vancouver, BC through Air North, Yukon’s Airline and Air Canada. For European departures, Condor flies direct from Frankfurt, Germany to Whitehorse, Yukon on Sundays throughout the 2012 summer.
