Summer solstice midnight ride!

Jun. 21 2010

Today is the longest day of the year. What better way to celebrate than by riding bikes under the midnight sun? Meet at the parking lot across from El Camino trail head, beside the biathlon range. We will leave our black van at the bottom of Grey Mountain to shuttle back up to the cars when we are done. Meet at 11:45pm and we start riding at midnight!

See you there!

Yukon summer 2010

Jun. 8 2010

Summers in the Yukon are something else. Endless daylight, happy people, mountain bike trips in every direction and somehow amongst all this energy there is a fun feeling of relaxation. We don’t take ourselves too seriously here, and fun is the main item on the agenda. Time is not important here!

Our riding season started about 3 weeks early and our local mountain bike club has seen record participation on both group rides and organized races. Wicked! Lots of sunshine and just enough rain makes our trails fast and fun. It is amazing to see how big our local mountain bike community is growing!

Boréale Mountain Biking was lucky enough to be featured in a Globe and Mail article. We were the cover story in their travel section of the Saturday edition of the newspaper. Amazing Canadian exposure and our phone has been ringing off the hook.

If you are thinking about a trip to the Yukon to sample our singletrack, I would aim for the next two weeks. Weather is amazing and we have a few spots open. Treat yourself!

The annual Boogaloo to Boréale race/ride will be held Thursday May 27th. This fun Race is a classic, it starts at the Magnuson Parking lot on Grey Mountain road at 7pm and finishes at Boréale Mountain Biking’s Yurtville on the Long Lake road. There will be a fundraiser BBQ at the Yurts after the race with hot dogs, burgers and live music! Be sure to bring your own beer and bring friends too! Entry is FREE for CMBC members and just $5 for non-members to eat at the BBQ.

Boréale’s black van will be at the race start to collect after-race clothes. Leave a bag of clothes/beer/whatever in the van and it will be waiting for you at the finish line. You will be able to park your vehicle at Yurtville before 6:30 and take the shuttle to the race start or park at Magnuson and find your way back to your vehicle after the race.

Boogaloo to Boréale is a great way to meet people and see Boréale’s beautiful yurts up close.
